Towncroft Labrador Retrievers ~ Tribute to Carisa
Hunt Club Carisa Joy, CGC "Carisa"
Sept. 20, 1990 – Dec. 8, 2004

Carisa was purchased as a pet and was my first Labrador. When she was a
year old I attended my first national specialty which was held in Denver,
Colorado. We made the drive only to get a bee sting and with a slightly
swollen and sensitive muzzle we never made it in the ring. At 17 months
she took Reserve Winners Bitch from the Novice Class at Miami Valley Labrador
Retriever Specialty (1992). Her show career is not a lot to brag about but
as my first Labrador she acquired 2 pts. under Roger Hartinger and a 3 pt.
major and went Best of Winners under Tom Bradley. Carisa earned placements
under respected English judges and had received a Canine Good Citizen (CGC)
certificate from AKC.
In her later years she won and placed in veteran classes at specialties
and was last shown at the age of 10 where she was Best Veteran in Sweepstakes
at the Hoosier Labrador Retriever Specialty. Carisa had wonderful temperament
and was a superb mother to her puppies and other puppies whenever there
was a litter around home – she had to check them all out and clean
them as if the mother was not doing their job. Carisa had three litters
during her life among which a daughter, Ally, and two granddaughters; London
and Dewar are with me here today. Ally has her championship and London and
Dewar are doing well in the ring placing at all breed shows and specialties.

This photo was taken 6 days after Carisa's 14th Birthday. She is much loved
and missed.
